Searching for beauty in the process of creation; always refining with an eye for the exquisite. Endlessly inspired by artisanal traditions and ancient techniques.
Amelia Brown is a New York-based designer with a global perspective. Her work channels the design heritage of the Middle East and beyond. Amelia studied fashion design at Cornell University, while also spending time in India working in artisanal embroidery workshops, and in the Middle East studying Arabic with the US State Department. She has studied and lived in Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, India, Spain, and Mexico, and has traveled widely. Her knowledge of Arabic and Spanish have allowed her to explore design traditions across multiple cultures and develop a deep appreciation for exquisite artisanal craftsmanship.
After stints with designers Naeem Khan and Maiyet, she launched her own collection, selling to private clients. Her design approach stems from these global experiences, and as a life-long student of global textile traditions. In her design process, she works with original antique textiles from Middle Eastern and Indian cultures, looking for eternally beautiful motifs and techniques. She thoughtfully translates these designs through her own watercolors and sketches into unique, lush embroideries applied to modern shapes and cut in custom fabrics.
The collection is created between our design studio in New York City and our artisan partner workshop in Mumbai, India.
While each piece is imbued with cultural meaning and carries a story with it, the collection is meant to be paired in eclectic ways in a modern wardrobe, adding an unexpected touch. Amelia Brown designs are both elegant and intricate, created for a culturally fluent woman of the world.

Amelia's family history informs her interest in global textiles. Her maternal grandfather was an American geologist and explorer who was with the first team to survey the empty quarter in Saudi Arabia, while her grandmother was an American rodeo queen who set up stables to teach horseback riding with Arabian stallions. Her grandparents spent the majority of their lives living in Arabia and traveling throughout the Middle East. They had their children in Arabia and three generations lived there from Dhahran to Riyadh. Amelia's mother was an Arabic scholar and international development specialist, so growing up in Washington, D.C., Amelia was surrounded by incredible textiles and family travels back to the Middle East.

On a warm night,
across a terrace,
with a view...
From Garcia Lorca to Hafiz to Ada Limon, words are nourishment
Coordinated outfits, dancing, and intricate theme parties with my little circle
Grateful for the warmth and happiness of my family
Space and time to create meaningful objects
Exploring the splendor of the earth and looking towards the next vista
