My process is grounded in craftsmanship and poetry.
Each artwork stems from a poem or mythological theme which inspires the sketches.
themes of cosmological beauty, natural history, and feminine forms echo throughout the collection.
I use traditional methods to polish the paper, transfer my artwork with a porcupine quill, and then paint the details with watercolors, gaouche, or 22 karat gold.
I am grateful to have studied with master painters in several traditions.
this has guided me in blending styles, regions, and eras into my signature aesthetic.
In the words of the Japanese Zen poet Basho:
“Seek not to follow in the footsteps of the masters; seek what they sought.”
